Yes. Your first visit at Tranquility Dental Wellness Tumwater is different from a routine checkup — it's designed to give us a complete foundation for your care. We'll conduct a comprehensive exam with digital X-rays and intraoral images, take time to discuss your health history and smile goals, and answer every question you have. We'll include a cleaning whenever possible during that first appointment.

Most PPO insurance plans cover your routine exams, prophylaxis cleanings, and X-rays with minimal co-pay or out-of-pocket. We will help you maximize your dental benefits at your appointment.

Most first appointments at our Tumwater office take between 60 and 90 minutes. We use every minute of that time meaningfully — to evaluate your oral health thoroughly, talk through your options, and make sure you feel informed and confident before you leave.

Dental X-rays are an important part of both your new patient exam and your routine oral care because they help dentists see things that cannot be detected through a visual exam alone. They provide early, detailed information that allows us to detect decay, infections, bone loss, and other issues early before they become painful or costly to treat.

We aim to complete your cleaning during your first visit at our Tumwater office when your oral health allows for it. In cases where we find gum disease or other concerns, we'll schedule your cleaning separately to ensure you're getting the most appropriate treatment from the start.

Cleanings shouldn't be painful and we work gently and can make adjustments or use numbing gel to ensure you are comfortable during your dental cleaning.

You're not alone — dental anxiety is something we hear about often, and our Tumwater team is here to help. We take a gentle approach and offer comfort amenities throughout your visit to help you feel at ease. For patients with more significant anxiety, we have sedation options available so you can get the care you need without the stress.

It is very possible to get whitening or cosmetic work started quickly.  We first make sure your teeth and gums are healthy. Once any necessary restorative treatment is completed, we can plan whitening and other cosmetic options.

Yes. When you book at our Tumwater office, you're welcome to request a specific dentist or hygienist. We'll do our best to accommodate based on availability, and our front desk team is happy to make a recommendation if you'd like one.

Yes. We offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and oral sedation for patients who want extra help relaxing. We can discuss which option is best for you during your first consultation and visit.
